Place sliced carrots in a large pot and add about 1 inch of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, cover, and cook for 8–10 minutes until carrots are just fork-tender.

Pour carrots into a strainer to drain water completely. Set carrots aside.

Add butter, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper to the same pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, forming a glossy glaze.

Return carrots to the pot with the glaze. Toss gently and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until carrots are well coated and heated through.

Transfer glazed carrots to a serving dish and top with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.
